Maternity Leave...

I just wanted to add a little post to let you know that I will be taking maternity leave this April. I am not actually due to have our little girl until the end of June but we are planning some last minute things before this baby arrives. I imagine I will be back to normal life sometime in July and will resume sessions in August.

If you are a repeat customer and we have previously talked about multi sessions, I will still complete those sessions. Please contact me if you have any questions.

So again I will not be taking any sessions April through July.

I am so thrilled that I had the privilege to photograph this little boy. He is the first born to one of our good friends. Mom and dad are also from our home state, we all grew up just a few miles apart, are currently attending the same out of state school and will end up living in the same valley in a few short years. It's so exciting to make friends, who become family away from family and then continue the friendship well after graduate school. I look forward to seeing this little one grow, as well as all the other siblings he will have! He is literally a doll with the most glorious hair I have ever seen!

I also need to mention that once upon a time, mom mentioned to me that she wasn't very photogenic... wrong! Are you kidding me? Look at her and she just had an 8 lb. baby a week before. L you are beautiful... and so are you T...! We love you guys! Congrats!

Please meet baby Easton, by far the easiest baby I have had the pleasure of working with. This little champ slept through the entire thing and the shoot lasted less than an hour! These are how it's supposed to be! He was amazing to say the least and such a handsome little man. And as for the first time parents, as calm and happy as can be. Little E sleeps well through the night, a big help for mom and dad, a blessing for sure!

And last, it's not uncommon for the little ones to take a bathroom break when they are naked, luckily we've only had pee and no BM's, but this would be my first accident on the parents. Dad was a good sport about it and gave a smile!

Meet sweet little baby Logan, all bundled up and oh so cute! I forget how little babies are now that my youngest is almost one. They grow so fast, but I was lucky enough cherish the littleness during this shoot. Mom I hope you like what you see, so here are a few for your viewing pleasure.

Can't forget about big sis, who I photographed here when she was just a newborn. I heart this picture, so innocent!

A funny thing about this next set. We asked sister to give baby a kiss, she sweetly did as she was told and then exclaimed after that she shouldn't give her brother a give because he could get sick. Mom then explained to me that sister had a cold when he was born and she was asked not to give brother a kiss at the time, she is obviously all better now! Just so funny in her actions!

One of the few I got of him in his birthday suit, he sure liked to be bundled up nice and warm!

I really like this picture, does that mean I am cruel? The reason why I like it is because I got one of his sister just like this when she was a newborn, 2 whole years ago!

Yes I am biased about this little family, why? Because she is my gorgeous sister in law and is expecting her first in December.

On my secret trip to Utah I had the pleasure of snapping a few photos for them. I am so pleased with how they turned out considering I only had two of my lenses, it was raining/snowing, my kids were sick and these were planned on a whim.

And of course I started off with a goofy picture. If you know A, you know her like this. Funny, spunky and full of personality. Her little girl is going to be just like her I am sure.

Every time I do a newborn shoot I am so amazed at how little babies are and she seemed to tiny to me even though she is 8 plus pounds at 13 days old. With the family being our good friends I had no problems getting her pictures, she was so easy and I loved the opportunity to do this for them!

Even though the next colored picture is a but blurry, I love it because it has this angelic look, its gorgeous!

Here is the happy family, all were happy except for one, can you see which one? He wasn't so into sitting on anyone's lap but moms and definitely didn't want to smile for me. Sometimes kids are so hard to photograph.

How can you not love these little kids? They all have such fun personalities and each one is so different than the others. Their little boy was born two weeks before ours and it has been so fun to watch them grow. We love this little family and have enjoyed living so close, we sure are going to miss you!

M & J, I hope you enjoy the pictures. I am all about color, different types of colored photographs, textures and bright sunny happiness. I have so many pictures to give you and so many options per picture. I enjoyed working with you guys and I really do hate to see you go!

This little girl is the sweetest thing, she was so content and just chilled while her mommy and I chatted. She is going to be one loved little girl, her mom remind me of a song by Stevie Wonder called isn't she lovely, I know you have all heard it.

I kept sining it over and over in my head while I was doing this shoot... "Isn't she lovely, isn't she wonderful, isn't she precious..."

This chubby little boy belongs to one of my best friends. While I was in Utah I was lucky enough to go spend a day with this little family. He is so plump, it's quite entertaining! My Style-

My style of photography may differ from what you are expecting. Please go through my gallery to see if I am what you are looking for. I love color, bright accents and out of the ordinary places to photograph. I like to make my photos look extraordinary and not just the plain Jane family portrait. Things may be close up, off center or out of focus. Things may be wacky and kind of crazy but in the end the results will be divine!

Rates-

Newborn Session: $250- Newborns preferably 2 weeks and under, 2-4 hour session and more than likely held at your own home.

Maternity Session: $200 - maternity session usually around 32-36 weeks of mom and all of her glorious belly.

Birthing Session: $300- Most people would say no to an idea like this, but a birth is the most spectacular thing to experience or see. And I am more than willing to be there with you to capture the things you can always see or remember. Please see details below.

Senior Session: $250 - 2-3 hour session with unlimited outfit changes. I want your pictures to reflect who you are and what you are about.

Child/Family Session: $200, up to 4 family members, $25 per additional member. The session will last approximately 2 hours.

A high-resolution disc and copyright to the images on it is included with each session. Each disc will have somewhere between 15-25 of photos.

Session Info

Newborn Session

Dressing your newborn-

Dress your newborn in a loose fitting diaper and swaddle them in a blanket to keep warm about a half an hour before the session time. This will prevent lines that the diaper and clothing can make. If you have any special outfits, blankets or props that you would like in the photos please let me know and we will incorporate them into the pictures.

Dressing siblings and parents-

For newborn family photos I like to do black background with either color photo or black and white. The family should dress in black shirts, can be either long sleeve or short and a pair of jeans. I rarely photograph the jeans but just in case, they look much better than khaki pants.

Maternity Session-

These are for mothers who want to remember what the good part of pregnancy is like. I like to get moms between 32 and 36 weeks, bellies for some reason capture really well at this stage. However if we have missed that time frame, we can still get beautiful photos, just maybe with a stretch mark here or there. Wear tight fitting clothing, pre pregnancy jeans, or pants that fit just below the belly. Tight tees, camisoles, tanks and even lingerie show of the curves in just the right way. Another option is to go bare, if you dare!

Birthing Session
A new sort of photography for both you and I. Something amazing is about to happen and don't you want some photos to remember it? A little weird, I must admit. The only people in the delivery room besides medical staff were my husband and my husband alone. Now that I have been there and done that twice, why didn't I think of this before. I would love nothing more than to be in that room, witness a birth and see the love for your new child blossom immediately. Its the greatest thing that will EVER happen to us as parents. I will take special care through your delivery and ultimately be invisible through your laboring process. I will also take care in editing, deleting, and burning your "woman parts" from my Digital negatives. I will be modest with the birth and show only the joy that has occurred.
Now the tricky part of this session is sometimes you go into labor and no one is ready. My sessions are usually best for inductions, home births or towards the end of a pregnancy when we are all prepared and now that the time is coming. I really want to emphasize to mom, not to get her hopes up if all hell breaks loose and the baby arrives before we know it. As soon as I get a call, I will be there. But please understand, sometimes things don't always work out. That being said. I will be timely, respectful, honest and wont hold hard feelings during this session. I know hormones go wild at this stage. Again this is a great experience, so lets enjoy it!

Family Session

Bright happy colors work best. If you are set on having everyone in the family match, pick a color that is bright. Blues, greens, yellows and pinks work wonders for photos. The tradition black and white color options work great as well. All of this matched with a pair of blue jeans can create a perfect picture. Don't be afraid to mix designs, stripes, plaid and polka dots with different textures, layer clothing, a long sleeve under a short sleeve, leggings under a skirt, mix it up! Scarf’s, hats, bulky jewelry, hair-band’s, bows, shoes and blankets with color can add lots of pop. Be creative and step out of your comfort zone.

Senior Session-

Again go with bright colors, textures and patterns. Brings as many outfits as you want. Bring something the reflects you, who you are, what you stand for, what you believe in, a sport you play, etc. Show me your personality, so we can show everyone else!

***As a side note, my photography is more of a hobby for me than a profession. I am happy to take pictures of your special event, but I do not provide paperwork, such as invoices. Most of our contact will be through e-mail or via phone. I will keep my word, keep you happy and resolve any issues that may arise.

I serve the greater Lexington KY area with Bridals, Weddings, portraits, senior, family, children and newborn photography., basically anything you can think of. I am more than willing to come to your place or any location you choose, as always I have a few favorite spots too.

I am Mallory Johnson, mother to two amazing little children and wife to the best husband ever. I currently live in lexington Kentucky and am loving life here. My interest in photography came years ago when I was in high school. I took a few photography classes and went from there. You could say I am a picture Nazi, I take pictures of evereything, so my husband and I decided to get myself a nice camera. After that camera came into my life, it was a whole new world. We then had a son, I couldn't resist taking pictures of him. After him came a baby girl, I just wanted to remember my children in that moment forever. . That is why I love photography, to remember that moment forever!
